Last year we announced Long Gone Days would be released this coming April, but even though we have been working hard all this time to achieve that, we feel that more time is needed to reach our desired level of polish.
When we started working on Chapter 2, we thought it would be ready in just a couple of months. Because the script wasn’t nearly as long as our first chapter, we decided to work on it together with Chapter 3 (there are 4 chapters in total), so we could release both at the same time. On top of that, there were still fixes to be made to Chapter 1, and down the road, we realized that the amount of work required for this update would be even larger than we expected. Still, we made the mistake of believing we’d be able to deliver the full release in April.
At the moment, we don’t have a definitive date on the full release, because we don’t really want to make the same mistake again, but we can say with certainty that the next big story update of Long Gone Days is almost finished and will be released really soon.
We also would like to take this opportunity to share with you a lot of progress and changes that are included in this upcoming update. The first big change is that Ivan is finally usable in battle:
This chapter wouldn’t be complete without some new characters and party members:

As a bonus, here’s a step by step GIF showing a bit of the process, from our rough sketches and tests, to the finished composition (we had to compress it a lot, but it looks a bit better on our Twitter):

The first image is the first mockup I made (the shadows are a mess, oops) and the rest are some quick doodles I made for the battle system. I’m glad the battle system ended up looking way better than this, haha.
(I have shared this a lot already, but in case you haven’t seen it yet, here’s an article I wrote on Medium showing how the visual style became what it is today)
This is oddly specific but, uh, some reference studies featuring David Sylvian.

Just in case…
So… Considering how tumblr flagged a lot of my posts as adult-content despite them being like (literally) Animal Crossing fanarts and even backgrounds without a single living being in them, I think it’s a good time to remind you to follow me on:

These past few weeks I’ve been working on stuff I can’t show (dungeons and stuff full of spoilers) so I haven’t been able to update much, but I just remembered I never posted these doodles of Adair
